January is National Blood Donor Month - Give Life in 2019!

January 5, 2015 by Molly Huff

Giving blood. This simple task is a way to potentially save a life, and every January, a national awareness campaign takes place to encourage all American citizens to get in the habit of donating blood.

We all have more than enough blood to share, and the pints that the Red Cross and local blood banks collect are critical for hospitals during blood transfusions and operations. And, since January is National Blood Donor Month, Affinity Health Clinic encourages you to consider giving blood. There are few blood banks that can maintain more than a three-day supply for blood transfusions, so the need for blood, platelets and plasma is constant throughout the year.
