August is Here - Time to Immunize!

July 31, 2012 by Molly Huff

Now that it's August, the children in our lives are returning to school.  Along with notebooks, pencils and back-to-school clothes, Affinity urges you to also give some attention to vaccinations.

August has been designated Immunization Awareness Month, and this is a great time to remember the importance of vaccinations and the benefits of being immunized.

Immunization is considered one of the most significant public health achievements of the 20th century.  Vaccines have eradicated small pox, polio and have greatly decreased the number of cases of measles, diphtheria, rubella, whooping cough and other diseases.  Even chicken pox, which most of us remember as a rite of passage, has been almost eliminated from the lives of our children.

It is of utmost importance for everyone to be vaccinated to prevent outbreaks of serious diseases.  Please contact Affinity Pediatrics to schedule your child's vaccinations.
